Water will cure a hangover

This is no miracle, everybody knows that when you drink, you excrete a lot of water. Therefore, dehydration is taking part in your hangover symptoms. But this one is very easy to fix. You just need to drink a lot of water as soon as you wake up. For starters try to drink ¼ to ½ of a gallon of normal tap or bottled water. Drink it until your urine will become colorless as this will mean that you are fully hydrated.

When drinking water, you are diluting remaining alcohol in your system, therefore making it easier for your body to take care of.  And making you feel less drunk, less confused, and better in general.

Also, it is worth noting that Gatorade and other sports drinks won’t do the trick as it contains too much sugar and it may only dehydrate you even further.

Vitamins, drugs, and minerals

When you are consuming alcohol, your body gets exhausted because of dealing with poison. Your body uses a lot of energy to metabolize alcohol. Also, it washes out a hefty amount of vitamins and minerals along. Therefore, it would be a good idea to pop a pill of Vitamin C and Vitamin B12. It would be great if you could get your hands on Potassium, Magnesium, Sodium, and Calcium supplements.

For example, Tylenol’s is a trade name for acetaminophen (paracetamol), which is metabolized through the liver, therefore, you would overload your body when consuming it during a hangover. Aspirin is known to cause stomach ulcers if used when alcohol is still present in the stomach, so better not to risk it. If you have a really nasty headache and can’t do without painkillers, the safest bet would be to get a pill of ibuprofen.

Go eat something

You do not need to be a rocket scientist to understand that sleep is probably the best cure for the hangovers. For some people, it is not the amount of alcohol they drink, but the time they sleep is what matters. Your body really needs rest after doing such tremendous work. Also, the time will go faster when you sleep, so it’s like skipping hangovers. Along with a whole day worth of time of course.

Coffee will help in another way

Do not be fooled, coffee will not miraculously cure your hangover or sober you up. However, it may lift up your mood a bit and help you to get rid of the remaining alcohol in your guts. After a cup of coffee and a half an hour in a bathroom, you will feel a lot lighter like you have cleared yourself up of a lot of bad stuff.

Wash off last night’s sins

Hit the shower when you will feel well enough. Not only it will make you clean of any smell of last night, but it will also make you feel fresh. You will feel like you are reborn.

Drink less

The best way to avoid the hangover is not to drink at all. The second best is to drink less. It may take tremendous willpower to count every sip you take. But here are some tips to unwillingly limit your drinks.

Do something while drinking. It is a perfect way to avoid drinking too much because you are minimizing your time with a glass in your hand. However, this option may not be available in some places. In that case, choose to drink a glass of water after every glass of alcoholic beverage. Some people claim that you prevent your body of dehydration this way, but the main trick is that you cut your alcohol drinking time roughly in half. Therefore, you drink only half as much as you would have drunk. However, this method will make you visit the bathroom quite frequently, so it is your call.  

Drink cleaner alcohols

While everybody knows that alcohol causes the hangover, it is worth noting that ethanol (alcohol that you drink and that makes you drunk, but not dead) itself is not the key factor behind the hangover. Other substances that are responsible for flavors and colors usually tend to make the hangover more severe. You probably noticed that Vodka and soda won’t give as bad of hangovers as strong red wines. Therefore, you should try to choose cleaner alcohol and avoid wines if you want a cleaner and easier hangover.
